The Streaming Platform to Bring a Popular Game TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent action-packed game that players experienced was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for embracing action and mayhem with equal excitement, all while weaving captivating, ideologically themed tales. It’s no surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two visionaries whose projects have embodied all of those qualities.
What to Expect
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game property, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' style by featuring a fresh backdrop and cast of characters in each season.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the producer.
“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX team always encourages me with their steady confidence and backing.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style series. Each game is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can shift from season to season, while always exploring the nature of people through this multifaceted and unpredictable perspective, is a dream come true. I’m eager to partner with Rob and introduce our shared bold, visionary sensibility to the audience.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
