The President Calls Loved Ones of Shot Guard Personnel to the White House
President Trump stated on the weekend that he has asked the loved ones of a Guard member killed last week to visit the presidential home.
He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “devastated”.
Background on the Heartbreaking Incident
Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a attack on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.
Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.
White House Call
The president stated he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump addressed the press. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”
Community Reaction
Attendees assembled over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s national effort to support law enforcement in the capital.
Paying Tribute to the Soldier
“She was the individual that teachers wished for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged people around her,” Hankins, the head of her previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was kind, considerate and always willing to support those in need.”
Service details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Judicial Measures and Government Changes
Law enforcement have charged a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of violent assault while armed.
The tragedy caused the administration to pause asylum processing and cease granting visas to owners of Afghan passports.
Status of Andrew Wolfe
Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, according to the news agency.
He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told the program that she also intended to speak to Wolfe’s family.
Legacy of the Fallen Soldier
Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a military police officer with distinction, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had bravery,” Morrisey told the audience at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
