More than 36,000 individuals have fled Sudan's Kordofan region east of Darfur starting Saturday, as stated by the UN's migration organization.

The key central region connecting the country's Darfur areas and the capital region has over recent weeks become the recent fighting area in the two-year civil war between the Sudanese army and the militia group.

Significant Exodus Statistics

An estimated 36,825 people escaped five areas in North Kordofan region between 26 October and 31 October, as reported by the International Organization for Migration.

The individuals, most on foot, headed to Tawila, a town western side of El Fasher that is currently sheltering in excess of 652,000 displaced people.

Heightened Troop Concentration

Local inhabitants of North Kordofan on Monday reported a significant increase in both RSF and army concentration across urban and rural areas throughout the state.

Both military groups are contesting control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan provincial capital and a critical supply and command base that links Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have converged on the Bara front here," commented an RSF member in a recently distributed video declaration.

Area Citizens Detail Safety Fears

A local inhabitant of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, described that the number of RSF vehicles had risen substantially since the group's seizure of El Fasher.

"We ceased visiting our farms, concerned about fighting," the individual commented.

Another inhabitant, who requested anonymity for protection purposes, also confirmed that "there has been a significant rise in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the previous fortnight.

International Warnings and Calls

A senior UN official expressed concerns last week about "large-scale atrocities" and "race-driven revenge attacks" by RSF in Bara.

The diplomat warned of patterns similar to those in Darfur, where RSF fighters have been alleged to commit mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against specific ethnic communities.

The spiritual head on Sunday appealed for an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of aid passageways in Sudan, declaring that attacks on civilians and hindrances to humanitarian aid "are causing unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's ambassador to Egypt on Sunday accused RSF of committing war crimes in El Fasher and announced that the Sudanese government would not negotiate with the militia organization.

The representative further encouraged the world nations to categorize the group as a terrorist entity.
