Individual That Touched Ariana Grande during Red Carpet Event Barred from Singapore
A man from Australia who vaulted across a fence and reached for actress Ariana Grande has been deported and barred from Singapore.
Johnson Wen, 26, was handed a penalty to nine days in prison for being a public nuisance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," Singaporean immigration authorities informed Singaporean press.
Wen pushed beyond security and approached aggressively the celebrity, who was attending the Asian premier for the film on 13 November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.
He has a background of causing disturbances at events and star-studded occasions, including rushing the stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in June this year.
The occurrence sparked outrage in Singapore, with numerous people saying he of causing further distress to the star.
The pop star has mentioned suffering from PTSD after a terrorist bombing at her show in the UK city in May 2017 killed 22 people and injured hundreds.
During Wen's trial, the court heard he had tried to gain access on the movie's debut on two occasions, according to regional reports.
He then made a second attempt to cross the barriers. Security staff prevented him and held him in place.
Wen later posted recordings appreciating the celebrity for letting him on the carpet and said he was "at liberty."
Police detained him the following day and charged him with public nuisance, to which Wen pleaded guilty.
The Presiding Judge the judicial official was referenced by media reports as remarking that he was looking for publicity, adding that he was wrong to believe he would not experience repercussions.
Grande has not commented on the situation.
The co-star mentioned the situation to the press, stating that she "simply desired to make sure my co-star was safe."
"I think he didn't intend us injury, but you cannot be certain with these incidents, and I wanted to confirm that she was fine. That was my initial reaction," she commented.
