Individual admits sex offences involving young males at summer program
An individual who contaminated treats with sleeping medication and provided them to children at a youth camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offences against two boys both nine and 10.
The defendant was detained after eight minors and an older person became sick at the location in July.
The senior citizen, from that region, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
The accused was kept in jail ahead of a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, outlined the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.
She stated his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer program which he operated.
The man played a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel stated, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She told the court the man had engaged in this activity with the young males "over an extended period", and children had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had suspicions in summer 2025.
The prosecutor stated further: "This year his stepson had worries about what was going on, for good reason.
"They decided to have a look in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor stated materials including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson alerted the authorities about his worries.
She stated Ruben went on to play the "candy game" with six children that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that point," she continued.
The oversight body, the investigative body, previously told that it was examining law enforcement's management of the situation.
Mrs Prior said the minors were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson contacted the law enforcement a second time.
She said Ruben then played the "sweet game" in a area of five minors.
