Holocaust Victims Demand Nigel Farage to Make Amends Over Reported Antisemitic Remarks.

A group of Holocaust survivors has insisted that Nigel Farage admit the facts and issue an apology for reported anti-Jewish taunts he reportedly directed toward Jewish pupils during his youth.

The political party leader has claimed he never racially abused anyone with malicious intent, proposing it may have been mere "childish teasing".

"As Holocaust survivors, we comprehend the grave risk of hateful words – for we have experienced firsthand where such words inevitably end," stated the survivors in a letter.

"We must be unambiguous: lauding Hitler, jeering at gas chambers, or hurling racist abuse is not banter. Not in a playground. Not anywhere."

A Pointed Inquiry

The document asks blunt questions to the party leader: "Is it true you said ‘Hitler was right’ and ‘gas them,’ and mimicked gas chambers? Did you target your peers to anti-Jewish taunts?"

Those Who Signed

The group of 11 survivors includes individuals with deeply traumatic personal experiences from the Nazi genocide.

• Hedi Argent, who was bereaved of 27 members of her family.
• Simon Winston, who was confined to a ghetto before breaking out in 1942 and living through the rest of the war concealed.
• Anita Lasker-Wallfisch, who was sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau and later moved to Bergen-Belsen, where she was freed.

Other signatories include Janine Webber, Edith Jayne, Helen Aronson, Ruth Barnett, John Fieldsend, Susan Pollack, Hanneke Dye and Agnes Kaposi.

Growing Accounts

This action is a response to the rejection of related testimony by more than two dozen former pupils and teachers as "complete fiction" by a high-ranking official.

After the story broke, additional former pupils have shared their stories. Nearly thirty people connected to the school now claim they witnessed prejudiced actions by him.

One notable account comes from Peter Ettedgui, a Jewish award-winning director, who recalls that a teenage Farage would come near him and repeat the phrases "Hitler was right" and "send them to the gas chambers", on occasion including a hiss to mimic the sound of the gas chambers.

Other former pupils from ethnic minorities have also come forward with accounts of direct abuse.

• Cyrus Oshidar said he was called a "Paki" and has rejected the idea that such actions were without intent.
• Another student of Asian heritage described him as an "open racist" who would use the phrase "Enoch Powell was correct" as a form of "racial bullying".

A Concluding Demand

The missive from survivors poses a final challenge to Farage: "By denying saying those words, are you claiming that 20 former classmates and teachers are not telling the truth? If you did say them, now is the moment to acknowledge you were wrong and make amends."

"People who aspire to lead our country should not ever divide people by background or belief. Antisemitic hatred must never be normalised. This moment is about personal accountability. The choice is yours, Mr Farage."
