A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The effort seeks to send support to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
A Chance for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely let down if it doesn’t, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.
“The song holds a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”

The track was produced in the wake of a solidarity show held in September. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.
The impressive roster of musicians featured on Lullaby includes a selection of prominent voices from the scene. All took part in the benefit event, which successfully generated a substantial amount for charitable causes.
Production and Release
Lullaby was produced by a team of producers and composers. The single showcases a combination of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.
The team running the campaign have stated that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These proceeds will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.
“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a representative said. “We aim for as much as possible. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”
The context in the area was described as its profound destruction, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“Against that backdrop, a couple of million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and showing there’s another side to the story.”
