Borussia Dortmund stormed to a resounding 4-0 triumph over a 10-man Villarreal side, halting a three-match winless streak in impressive fashion.
The Guinea striker Serhou Guirassy was the catalyst, opening the scoring with a header from a corner in added time just before the interval.
He made it two early in the second half, pouncing after his initial penalty was parried by keeper Luiz Júnior, being the fastest to react to tap in the loose ball.
Villarreal's task was made more difficult when Juan Foyth was sent off for handling a certain goal strike from Karim Adeyemi, giving away the fateful penalty.
Just three minutes later, Adeyemi found the net, scoring from the penalty area to make it 3-0, before Daniel Svensson wrapped up the emphatic win with a powerful header in the dying moments of the match.
The result lifted Dortmund to fourth position in the standings with 10 points from five games, tied with Chelsea and Manchester City.
Villarreal, in contrast, fell to third from bottom with a solitary one point.
Juventus Snatch Late Victory
Juventus needed a stoppage-time winner from substitute Jonathan David to overcome Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt 3-2 and claim their first victory of this campaign's competition.
The hosts looked to have earned a point when Sondre Brunstad Fet converted an 87th-minute penalty, erasing goals from Juve's Loïs Openda and Weston McKennie, who had turned around Ole Didrik Blomberg's first-half first goal.
However, the thrilling finish was not over, as the hosts were undone in stoppage time when goalkeeper Nikita Haikin spilled a shot from introduced substitute Kenan Yildiz, allowing David to react quickest and fire home the decisive goal.
McTominay Spares SSC Napoli's Blushes
Scott McTominay saved the day for Napoli as they marked the fifth anniversary of Diego Maradona's death with a 2-0 victory over Qarabag.
The Scotland midfielder nodded in the first goal in the 65th minute and later caused an own goal from Marko Jankovic, after a spot-kick from Manchester United loanee Rasmus Højlund was saved.
