Aircraft Crash Fatality Revealed by Family
The person who passed away in a chopper incident in Doncaster on Thursday has been named by his family as the victim, who was 70.
The person flying, aged 41, and two other individuals on board, a female passenger and a young male, 10, experienced non-critical harm.
In a announcement issued by investigators, the relatives portrayed Mr Smith as "a dearly loved husband, dad and grandfather" and said they were "all devastated by this tragic loss".
"The victim had a real passion for aircraft, and this was an interest he enjoyed together with his loved ones," they continued.
"The grandfather particularly loved to engage with his grandkids creating projects and playing. He was a dedicated father figure who devoted plenty of his hours with his son, both partnering and in leisure. Peter loved to have meals out with his wife and had a notably love for desserts."
The aircraft had left from a local airfield, in the region, shortly before it went down in the Doncaster suburb of Bentley, off that street, shortly after 10:00 GMT.
Officials from relevant agencies have launched a joint investigation into the accident.
In the announcement, the loved ones stated they were assisting the probe and asked people "to refrain from speculate on the circumstances related to the incident".
"We would like to appeal for privacy during this incredibly difficult time to enable us to come to terms with what has happened and mourn for the loss of our loved one," they continued.
A representative for the investigative body mentioned a group of specialists in aircraft operations, mechanical systems and flight information had been sent to the location on the day of the incident.
The helicopter is thought to have been owned by a helicopter firm based at that airfield. The firm said it would "keep on assist" the authorities participating in the investigation into the crash.
The firm, which based on its website offers flying lessons and adventures, stated in a message on social media: "In this extremely difficult time every one of our reflections and wishes are with the family and friends of everyone affected in the chopper crash which occurred the other day."
The statement continued: "Our team's sincere sympathies are sent to each person affected by this disaster and we will naturally continue to cooperate with concerned authorities involved in the ongoing inquiry."
